HALLOWEEN CARVED PUMPKIN IDEAS - METALLIC EDITION
We all love Halloween, don't we? This spooky day, celebrated in the entire world, is mostly associated with the USA.
However, the tradition of carving pumpkins into Jack O'Lantern was brought to America from Ireland! Ancient Celtic cultures carved turnips on All Hallow's Eve, and placed an ember in them, to ward off evil spirits.
Okey now, since you know some history, we can start our project. Let's get crafty and ward these evil spirits off, shall we?
In today's post we will prepare two unique pumpkins by carving their spooky faces. However, since we aim at creativity, let's add some glamour to our orange companions. I decided to go for metallic glow.
What we need:
- two, nicely shaped pumpkins
- sharp knife
- metallic paint/paint spray and paint brush
- gloves!
1. First of all, we need to carve the pumpkins. In order to do it, take some marker and design draft spooky faces. Once you're done, take a sharp knife and carefully cut desired shapes.
2. Cut out the top of the pumkin. Put on your gloves and take out the remaining pulp. Then, put the top back on its place.
5. If you want to be even more creative, transform one of your pumpkins into... a cat! You can simply do it by sticking the cut eye shapes on the top of your pumkin. Use toothpick to obtain this effect.
4. Now you can proceed to painting. For my project, I chose two shades of metallic grey (and I know what you've just thought, when you read it!). Both of the paints were bought in Poundland. Remember to stay in your gloves, as it gets pretty messy!
Once you are finished with painting, be patient and let your pumpkins dry.
ATTENTION!
Please be careful and check the instructions at the back label of your paints. Some of them may be inflammable. In that case, you should buy electric candles.
I truly love the effects and I am really excited for Halloween! How about you? I'm waiting for your comments!
