Colour dripping candles on your favourite wine /beer bottle

First of all, I have to admit that I am crazy about wine and cyders. I am not a fan of regular beers but this fruity beverage is fantastic. As for the wines, the red ones have recently become my ultimate favourites. Another thing I like to do in my drinking ritual (great, now I sound like an alcoholic) is to choose a beautiful bottle. Therefore, you can imagine my sadness, when I had to throw them away. However, I have found a solution to reuse my favourite bottles in a very creative and fun way. I decided to make my own colour dripping candles and use them to decorate my bottles.

Apart from my passion for crafts, one of the reasons why I wanted to make those candles on my own was the price of ready products on the market. I will use the Colour Dripping Candles by Urban Outfitters as an example.

As you can see, you can purchase a box of 2 colour dripping candles for 5 pounds. Since I'm a student, this price was unacceptable for me and immediately boosted my creativity.
I continued my research and finally I believe I have found the cheapest option available. My shopping list was full of products from Poundland. Therefore, I present you the items that will help you to complete this project, enabling you to make 8 candles. The final cost is only £3.00.

We need:
- 8 candles (£2.00 = £1.00 for each box)
- 1 box of wax crayons (£1.00)
In order to make things easier to clean, we can also use (only optional, + £2.00 ):
- paper cups (£1.00)
- wooden sticks (£1.00)
Obviously do not forget about your latex gloves, Doctors !

Once you have everything you need, you can start your project by preparing the candles.

1. First of all, you need to make sure that candles fit your bottle. If they don't, adjust the back-end of your candles with scissors.

  2. Once they fit, we can proceed to the most fun part of the project - crayons

Choose 8 crayons of your favourite colour and peel off all of the paper covers, as seen on this photo.

3. Use peeled crayons and a lighter to dye your white candles. If the crayon becomes too small, use your wooden stick in order to prevent your skin from burning.

By the way, these photos kind of look like from a surgery.

4. Finally, stick your candle into the bottle and set it on fire! Then, wait until it melts and repeat this process with other candles.

REMEMBER, be careful with the melting wax and make sure it doesn't fall on any surface, which would be hard to clean afterwards. For this purpose, I used my shower.
5. Final step is simply to remain patient. Keep calm and wait for the results!

As you can see the results are amazing ! You can use this beautiful bottle simply as a decoration or a candle holder. Good luck with your own project. I am looking forward to hearing all of your comments. Let me know, if you liked my idea and if you managed to do it by yourselves !
